Eating out: Here are some of  the tapas bars and restaurants that we recommend.

Casas de Alcanar- has great sea food and an authentic village atmosphere plus highly recommended restaurants. San Carles de la Rapita-just south of the Ebro delta, fantastic seafood and rice. Short grain “bomba” rice is grown all over the delta.

Benicarlo´s Chuanet restaurant is a stroll up the beach from the Parador Hotel. Expensive but extraordinary. Benicarlo 's port  beach serves great Horchata, the typical nutty milky drink from Valencia. Try the Lemon slush puppies, with or without cold beer! Mar Chica on Mar Chica beach north of Benicarlo is a relaxing place in Ibiza chill-out style. Music, good snacks and the horizon.

Peñiscola, the port cafe, for sardines and boquerrones. There are many bars serving great spanish ham in the old city. Inland “La Faram” in  Cervera de Maestre, 9 km away, a great bar & restaurant for local dishes.

Alcossebre offers a wide range of restaurants." La Maya", the oldest, is a small bar just south of the tourist office, great sea view. There are good daytime 3 course "Menu del dia" lunches advertised on sandwich boards everywhere. More information here.
